BHV
BHV (Company Emergency Response)
Under the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), every employer is obliged to have company emergency response services in place and must be well-prepared for accidents, fires, and evacuations. The number of emergency response staff is not legally stipulated. The employer must determine the correct number of staff based on the Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RIE).
There must always be at least one BHV (company emergency response) employee present, including during shift work and overtime situations, even if some employees are working from home. In case of emergency, a certified employee who is at home naturally cannot provide first aid. Fighting a fire or guiding colleagues quickly to an emergency exit would not be possible.
