Fire class C
Class C covers fires involving flammable gases such as natural gas, propane, butane, and hydrogen. These fires are particularly dangerous.
Fires involving solid materials such as wood, paper, textiles, and some plastics fall into Class A fires. These are the fires you most often see in homes, offices, and workshops. They are usually caused by a moment of carelessness, such as a candle falling over, an overloaded power strip overheating, or a cigarette that has not been properly extinguished.
These fires are spreading quickly and, if not tackled in time, can cause significant damage. Fortunately, in most cases, they can be extinguished effectively with the right equipment.
In the event of a solid material fire, it is important to act quickly. The sooner you intervene, the greater the chance of limiting the damage. These are the most suitable extinguishing agents:
Water – Cools the fire and prevents reignition. Warning: do not use on electrical fires!
Foam – Creates a blanketing layer over the fire and prevents re-ignition. Ideal for indoor use.
Powder – Works quickly and effectively, but leaves a messy residue and can cause damage to electronic equipment.
Important: Never use water on fires involving electrical appliances or liquids. This can worsen the fire and create dangerous situations.
You can only extinguish a fire if you get to it in time and the fire is still small. Are the flames growing quickly? Don't hesitate – evacuate the building and call 999 immediately.
